We have carried out over 10,000 concrete repair projects.
Concrete structures are susceptible to damage if not properly waterproofed against damp and free water. Water can cause a host of problems for concrete, leading to issues that will need repairs for the concrete to remain structurally sound. This is why waterproofing is a requirement for new buildings especially for basements. At Concrete Remedial Systems, we work with builders, engineers and contractors all over East Sussex, providing waterproofing solutions for new builds and old. Our waterproofing services can provide extra protection for concrete against water retention, preventing damage and damp from arising.
Our concrete solutions also include concrete repairs for any structures that need restoration and renovation. We can carry out in depth concrete inspections at your property to assess the problem and determine what level of waterproofing you will need. All our work comes with a 10 year guarantee. When it comes to concrete repairs and waterproofing, no job is too big or too small.
Without sufficient waterproofing measures in place, concrete is prone to structural damage caused by water retention. As water can permeate a concrete structure in a number of ways, more than one type of waterproofing may be necessary to keep concrete dry. Waterproofing can prevent water from getting in from outside while also protecting the concrete from moisture that collects on the inside through condensation.
Concrete absorbs moisture and once water is retained within the structure, it starts to cause problems. The thaw-freeze cycle causes the greatest damage as water expands when frozen, creating cracks in the concrete. Even the smallest cracks are an issue that need addressing as this allows water to reach deeper within the concrete. As the water damage goes deep, it becomes more and more costly to repair.
Damp concrete also invites mould spores to grow, leading to further issues that can make repairs and renovations a real issue further down the line.

Concrete Remedial Systems work to waterproof underground concrete structures in line with BS 8102:2022 (the British standard for protection of structures against water from the ground). Our work and services all provide a warranty for a minimum of 10 years. Our waterproofing systems protect existing structures from water retention and damp. We use a combination of systems to ensure structural integrity.
Through introducing cementitious protective coatings, we can enhance the level of waterproofing. These liquid membranes shield porous concrete from surface water and moisture, preventing water retention. Applied in layers on concrete floors, walls and ceilings, we use a variety of products to ensure a strong standard of waterproofing.
As this waterproofing system is factored in during the construction of the basement, type B isn’t something that we can provide. All new builds compliant with BS 8102:2022 will have factored in external walls for basement builds that keep out water.
Older domestic and commercial builds constructed before integral barriers were essential for concrete structures may not have external barriers built in line with regulations. In this case, Concrete Remedial Systems are on hand to apply waterproofing directly to the surfaces using Type A and Type C.
Cavity drain membrane (CDM) systems are a maintainable, internal basement waterproofing solution referred to as ‘Type C’ waterproofing in British Standard 8102:2022 and are ideal for new-build, refurbishment and historic/listed projects. Known as the most failsafe form of waterproofing, the cavity drain membranes capture ingressing water at the point of ingress and directs it to an integral pumping system or drainage outlet for safe removal.
Protective coatings greatly extend the life of concrete structures. This can greatly extend the life of concrete structures by enhancing the durability of the concrete with a protective coating. This could be the difference between your structure lasting 30 years or having to be completely replaced at great expense after five or less years.

Waterproofing concrete involves applying water-resistant barriers on the surface of the concrete, either using liquid or solid membranes. Construction also brings into consideration creating a water-tight space, using sealed joints to keep free water out. For basements, cavity drainage removes free water from where it gathers underground, keeping concrete structures clear of water.
Water causes the most long-term damage for concrete because the material is semi-porous. Water penetrates the surface, entering the structure. During extreme weather and temperature changes, the freeze-thaw cycle causes cracks to form which creates a greater surface area for water to enter. Crack become larger, threatening the structural integrity of the concrete. As a result, the concrete starts to flake away, leading to spalding and even collapse.
Look out for signs such as dampness, mould growth, or water seepage. If you notice cracks, the chances are water has entered the concrete and caused damage. If this is the case, we can still help and repair the damage. We’ll seal any cracks and waterproof your basement to keep it dry and damp-free. Our experts can assess your property with a thorough survey to check for any unseen damage.
